Musical Instrument Donation for Tax Write-Off?

Does anyone know of a charity or music school that I can donate a piano to that I could use as a tax deduction ??? I would like to find a good music school that is willing to refurbish a very nice piano in the Los Angeles area.

You can check out these websites

The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation is quite near you, in Sherman Oaks, they specialize in instrument donations such as yours and are a WONDERFUL concept, based on the movie! :)

To further check out such groups, consider

and use that site to review the validity of various charities you might hear about.

Myself, I think I would call the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and inquire as to their opinion, I think they would be WELL-VERSED on such musical groups in your area.

Kudos for you, such a gift is wonderful, and could CHANGE THE LIFE of a child, even make it WORTH LIVING! :)

Any goverment run school, ie public schools.

If they accept it, just have them write you a little note in case you get audited. Do some research and find out how much that piano used is going for, and write that in as a write off when tax time comes again.
why dont you pull up a listing of non profit organizations in the LA area and donations to those are usually great tax write offs, even a less fortunate or beginning church...a school gets their own breaks ..give someone who needs a break one while you get one for yourself!
