I am going to audition for a musical at my school and i would like some suggestions for a song to sing.?opera songs opera theater

"On my own" from Les Mis

"wishing you were somehow here again" from Phantom
Pick a song that relates to the character you are auditioning for, and is suitable for your range of voice. Try to stay away from overused songs, songs that you are uncomfortable with or have trouble relating to, and songs that are unsuitable for your vocal range (because you will end up sounding inferior if you attempt notes out of your range and cannot carry it off).
Well it depends on if u r an alto, soprano, tenor, bass? Add more details and maybe I can help. If you want like a silly ballad, try somewhere that鈥檚 green from little shop of horrors. That鈥檚 my fav to audition with because you can put feeling into it and show them that you can act also! But tell me what kind of voice u have and I鈥檒l try to help
You should always audition in the style that the musical you're auditioning for is in.

Rarely should you audition with a song from that musical - but if you can't find a song with the same style...then do that.

%26lt;3
The song you sing best.

I certainly wouldn't use the song you sing worst!
"Popular" from the musical wicked is a great choice! You can check it out @

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
You could sing love by Keyshia Cole, Sexy Love by Ne-yo, She don't or Torn by LaToya, Let me Love you by Mario, or that one new song by Mary j Blige. If this aint the kinda songs you lookin for email me @ taytay7000@yahoo.com and let me know cuz i got alot more suggestions
What about "Whistle a Happy Tune" (something close to that...sorry!) from Rogers %26amp; Hammerstein's "The King %26amp; I" or

... "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz ...
NEVER pick a piece that they've heard a billion times.

Chances are someone better than you as done it and they will compare you to that person. (Somewhere over The rainbow... HOW MANY TIMES HAS THAT BEEN DONE!??!)

Also you should never pick something that has been done in the past 5 years on broadway or is currently on broadway. But you're probably auditioning for a high school show. SO just stay away from the overly popular stuff... like anything from Wicked, Les Mis, Phantom, Cats ect.

A good trick to use for auditions is to find a song from another show that is by the same composer.

It all depends on your range and what type of character you're auditioning for.

Here are some songs I suggest:

Kind of Woman (Pippin)

And This is My Beloved (Kismet)

Stranger in Paradise (Kismet )

I hate Men (Kiss Me Kate)

Goodnight My Someone (Music Man)

Moonfall (The Mystery of Edwin Drood)

I Will Never Leave You (Sideshow)

Of course, there are TONS of other songs out there.
maybe pick a song off of a movie that is a musical like sound of music
1. to previous posters, in theatre we never say the "GL" phrase, always say "Break A Leg."

2. Sing a song that is in the same style as they show you are auditioning for. You didn't say what it was or I could possibly give you some suggestions.

3. Learn as much as you can about the character role you want, and be the character on stage, whether you are sitting or standing your turn or not.

4. Although I love "Wicked" I think it will be a little too popular to audition with just yet (no pun intended on the "popular" bit).

BREAK A LEG!!!
"Somewhere over the Rainbow"
you could sing something form West Side Story, like America

Grease

Wicked

Wizard of Oz

etc.
umm i am not sure.......
