It's called a plateau. You are probably exacerbating it a bit by worrying about it. We all have times when we feel like we can't get any better, or even times when we just want to walk away and try something else. Albert Einstein said that the definition of Insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Change something that you do. Try a different style of music, try tapping or using a slide, or even a related instrument. You can learn a lot from a different string set or set of intervals.

The important thing is to get past the same things you do every day. Also, if you are getting sloppy, slow down and get it right, then speed it back up again. The only good thing about a plateau is that you can get a good look at the next mountain to climb while you catch your breath and strengthen your resolve to conquer it!

You either need to get into a band or take $200 a lesson advance courses from a pro
You have an extreme mental block. Keep on practicing and you will eventually get it. Work with your private teacher to work out the kinks. Progression in music does not happen overnight. It takes years. Try taking a week off from playing and clear your mind. It is sometimes the best thing to do.
Your mindset is holding you back, like the above answer suggests. We all have that plateau, it's important to not let it hold you back. Don't try to focus on something immediate and tangible, skill takes time.

Are you taking lessons? Often, with assistance, you can receive proper guidance and goals for your practice session. It's important to sit down and decide what you want to achieve with your practice session before you even pick up your instrument. You don't have to practice dozens of hours a day...it matters how well you practice and if you practice with purpose.

Are you also progressing to using more challenging materials?

Like suggested above, try for some lessons with your local music shop and don't be so hard on yourself!
i see this allot, practice less, it only affects some people, don't stop practicing altogether do at least an hour a day, learn a new song so you don't overplay the ones you already know. guitar takes years to get good at. you think you are sloppy because you play so much.

good luck ,enjoy what you are doing.
I had a similar problem when I was just starting, except my burn out period happened after I had been playing for one year. I mainly played basic rock and alternative/indie type stuff. I burnt out, so I started learning different styles. Even if I didn't like it, I gave it a shot. Metal. Jazz. Blues. Just try learning anything you can, even if it seems lame. It will improve your technique, open up your mind, and help in developing your own independent style.

Also, if you can record yourself playing, do it. I used to record myself playing along with songs, and listened back to see where I sucked and worked on that. If you feel you're getting sloppy, slow down your playing until you can do it nice and clean, then gradually increase the speed of your playing, always keeping in mind to not play sloppy.

This is what I did to improve my playing. It might not work for you. Sometimes you just need to take a break from playing for a day. There is nothing wrong with that. The muscles in our hands strengthen after we're finished playing, so remember to relax and have fun.
